Tiny Treasures - Cheetah Cub

If you're lucky enough to see a cheetah cub, as I was on this day, you will not want to leave the area. At this stage of their lives their mother is almost always around and the interaction between the cubs and the mother is something to behold. They are enchanting, beguiling and mesmerising and you will not be the same again. A sense of complete wonder at how nature is at work is just one of the aspects that will keep you entertained.

I have tried to capture this sense of wonder in this charcoal sketch, now available for you to add to your collection.

But, as always, there are a few things you should keep in mind about cheetahs. The cheetah, known for its incredible speed and agility, faces a critical threat of extinction due to factors such as habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching. With an estimated population of only 7,100 individuals remaining in the wild, urgent action is required to ensure the survival of this majestic big cat species. Conservation efforts are being implemented by various organizations and governments around the world, including the establishment of protected areas, wildlife corridors, and anti-poaching initiatives. Additionally, research is being conducted to better understand cheetah behavior and genetics to aid in their conservation. Collaborative efforts are essential in protecting cheetahs to secure their future for generations to come.
